A Life
Stands
On a can of coke
Bubbling full of
joy.
Greedy friends pass
and suck it out
Leaving just a shell.

The aliminium
Stands
Tough as steel
then a baby cries
No more.

The last dregs drained
The ‘inside out’
A pressure point
makes it
Fall.

The wreckage of pain.
A hope in a Christ.
The wet tears.
For it all.

If you have never said the wrong thing.

You have never said anything.

This blog showcases the thoughts and feelings I have through the genre of poetry. Many of the poems were written in the early 1990s. It was a tough time – late teens early twenties. Some are hard to read – the important message is that no matter how tough things feel – there is a way through it, even if it doesn’t seem apparent at the time. Hang in there – there is a way through it – and with positive choices life is very rewarding.

I don’t know
if you realise
the heartache
I feel
when we disagree

They say
it doesn’t matter

I’m a new generation

We are not supposed
to see
eye to eye

It’s a lonely feeling

I want to be
all you want me to be

Yet there are differences
with which we can only
compromise…
or leave alone

When you can’t hear
the words
that fill my music
my art

I feel different
distant
and I realise you might never
never hear
or ever
understand the words
I want you to hear

There are parts
that I hide
hoping you will find them
anyway
and understand
Me

I’m supposed to be young
carefree

You’re supposed to be old
set in your ways

We’re supposed to clash

But you are my parents
And I love you

I want you to know me
To find me

To understand all
with Love
